SEO/SEM & Digital Marketing Manager

Digital marketing is one of several services we offer our clients, which includes SEO, Social Media Management, PPC ads and content marketing. We also excel at digital strategy, creative design, full-stack development of websites & web/mobile apps. Our clients include large startups like Freshbooks, League, and TopHat, as well as enterprises like Unilever, Nestlé and DHX Media.

Crowdlinker is looking for a motivated and experienced SEO/SEM Specialist to join our Digital Marketing team. As an SEO/SEM Specialist you will be working directly with our clients to devise digital marketing strategies, research opportunities, implement best practices, measure results and iterate campaigns for growth. Ideally, you will have extensive experience with search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM/PPC) and digital analytics.  You will be part of and sometimes leading calls with clients to communicate strategy and results on a weekly basis.

This is a part-time/hourly position and thus it is ideal for a freelancer who wants to partner with an established agency like ours. You should expect 10 to 20 hours of work per week to start, with the possibility of moving to a full-time position within the next few months. Highly qualified candidates with a diverse set of digital marketing skills will have the option to start full-time immediately.

Must Haves:

  • At least 1 year of experience managing organic and paid search marketing campaigns.
  • Understands how to perform advanced keyword research for organic SEO based on commercial intent.
  • A track record of successfully improving both individual rankings for keywords/phrases and improving overall site traffic through wide-scale application of SEO best practices
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMSs) such as WordPress.
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools and Google Search Console.
  • Experience using the Google Ads platform (Search, Display, Shopping, Video, Remarketing).
  • A proven track record of building, running and managing Ad accounts.
  • Experience with retargeting and remarketing.
  • Experience with SEO tools such as SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog & Buzzsumo.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and a genuine interest in making continuous improvements to campaigns based on ongoing data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to clearly explain complex ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently under time constraints, take initiative and use good judgment.

Nice to Haves:

  • Google Ads and Analytics Certifications.
  • Experience researching content opportunities (text-based, audio, visual) and managing a team to create these assets.
  • Proven track record of building whitehat backlinks from relevant and high authority sources.
  • Proficient at Excel and have experience using complex formulas.
  • Experience running Facebook Ad campaigns using the Facebook Ad Manager and Power Editor.
  • Hands-on experience with marketing automation software such as Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot and/or Eloqua or basic alternatives such a Mailchimp Automation or Clickfunnels Etison Suite.
  • Hands-on experience with email marketing tools such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact or AWeber.
  • Understanding of Google Tag Manager.
  • Basic understanding of HTML/JavaScript.
  • The ability and desire to manage other digital marketers in the future.


  • Expertly craft actionable and impactful SEO/SEM strategies across a variety of industries.
  • Keep large and complex projects organized, within scope, and on-time.
  • Create accurate reports of your performance for our clients.
  • Write Technical SEO audit recommendations for sites with tens of thousands of pages.
  • Drive organic rankings across all clients on a quarterly basis by executing and improving on Crowdlinker's SEO systems.
  • Track, monitor and ensure that campaigns are delivering against all KPIs by reporting on campaign performance.
  • Communicate complex data in a simple language. Maintain strong presentation skills and deliver presentations in business meetings.
  • Drive Quality Score (Google Ads) & Relevance Score (Facebook Ads) increases across all clients on a quarterly basis by executing and improving on Crowdlinker's SEO and digital marketing systems.
  • Building, launching, setting up and QA’ing accounts across multiple search engines.
  • Executing conversion rate optimization (CRO) strategies with UX design, landing page design, a/b testing, multivariate testing, marketing automation and email marketing with successful results.
  • Monitor industry changes and developments in the latest SEO tools, trends, and tactics.

Duration of the role

This is a hourly / contract role with the potential to go to full-time / permanent in the future. Highly qualified candidates with a diverse set of digital marketing skills will have the option to start full-time immediately.


Remote vs Local Work

Remote work is an option for this role, but preference will be given to those in North American time zones and people with excellent English communications skills. Candidates based in the Toronto area will be given top preference but highly qualified candidates from other locations may also apply. Be sure to indicate your location in your application.
